Name:Jazill
Age: 17

Craft: Miner
Craft Rank: Sr. Apprentice

Brief Description of Persona:

  • Jazill is of middling height at about 5'8 or 9. He tells everyone he's taller and his lean Runner's frame allows this for optical illusion. His blonde hair belies his Northern descent as does his fair skin. His skin stays fair due to his craft of Mining. His body is whip lean from his Runner parents' genetics, but it is muscular from his last few years as an apprentice miner. His blue eyes top off an altogether rather pleasing looking young man.

  • Jazill is a determined young man. Though he was born to a family of Runners, his love lied with the mysteries held beneath the earth of Pern. His firmness of attitude and strength of will allow Jaz to succeed at most tasks he sets his mind to. He has mastered his fear of dark above ground, but has yet to conquer the fear of the dark below ground. Not sure if it's the actual dark he is afraid of, or if it's the fear of being trapped below ground in the dark, Jaz sees a Mindhealer several times a week to see if, together, they can some how conquer his issues. He still is prone to panic and anxiety attacks at the worst opportune moments. They are not common, but happen enough to prevent him from rising through the ranks as fast as the other apprentices.

    Brief History of Persona:

  • A fifth born generation of Runners, Jazill disappointed his parents by showing no interest whatso ever in becoming a Runner. As a small child he preferred to dig in the dirt, create tunnels, build small versions of weyrs for his brothers, sisters, and other Station children so they could play with their toy dragons. His talents surprised his parents as he continued to help around the station by knowing where to start new Runner Traces because the ground was of the correct type, of knowing where the stones of the Runner Station building were showing weaknesses and general knowledge of rocks and minerals.

Finally at the age of twelve, Jazill was allowed to apprentice at the Mine/Smith Crafthall. His parents were happy when their son showed great aptitude for his chosen Craft. They became concerned when their son hadn't graduated to the rank of Senior Apprentice with the rest of his class at the age of fifteen. Upon turning 17, Jazill was finally able to wear the knots of a Senior Apprentice. At a party for this occasion, the young man finally revealed the truth to his parents about his deathly fear of the dark. He has yet to tell them about his weekly meetings with a Mindhealer. It would be bad enough for them to know he was seeing one, but to know that sometimes met with the Mindhealer three or four times a week would be devastating to them.

His Craft Hallmaster sees the potential in the boy. But his concerns lie with the fact that even though miners can do alot of work above ground in the daylight, to gain journeyman's knots, a miner must be able to work below ground in the dark as well. It was upon the old Hallmaster's suggestion that Jazill started to see the local Mindhealer.

As he progresses, Jazill will one day reveal his biggest secret to someone.....the fact he can barely see in the dark....he is nightblind.
