Brief Description of Persona:

  • Maerin is fairly tall for a woman standing at 5'11 and she's lean, rangy, fairly muscular for a woman. She's fairly proud of her body, that she's fairly strong for a woman, but she has the odd day where she feels the lack of volumptous curves. But her curves are a little fuller these days thanks to having borne a child.

Maerin has shiney dark brown hair she wears short, usually just brushing the tops of her shoulders.

Her skin is a soft clear, tawny colour suggesting Asiatic genes and her eyes are almond shaped and quite wide set. The iris is a striking clear turqoise blue-green. Her face is a soft oval shape, her features a little to regular for beauty, but her ready grin, laughing eyes and her personality animates her face.

A bit of a tom boy most of the time she prefers old, nearly worn out trousers and comfortable, loose shirts. But when she wants to she can pull out some feminine surprises and turn a few male heads.

  • Maerin is an outgoing, extremely friendly and warm person. Opinionated, honest and fair she's great to have business dealings with, great for her craft and chosen speciality for breeding large stock.

While she's extremly patient and tolerant with the animals she works with she's not so patient and tolerant with people. She tends to be the opposite with people in most cases. A fairly fiesty and strong willed person she isn't afraid to say her piece and stand up for herself, or to go after what she wants.

    Brief History of Persona:

  • Maerin was born as the second oldest child out of four and was the only girl, born to a Journeyman Glassmith and his wife at Black Rock Hold.

Maerin was brought up in a household where women were expected to do the cooking, cleaning and looking after the children. A bit of a rebel child she didn't much care for this notion of a woman's life. She was often found to be missing when her mother looked for her to do her "feminine" chores.

Forced to do her chores she often deliberatly did her needlework, mending and weaving badly, burnt the cooking, did her housework poorly, ignored her young siblings when she was meant to be watching them. After a while her mother just gave up and let her do her thing. Hers was a household where her mother very much ruled the roost.

During her life Maerin was very close to her much older half brother, a child belonging to her father and a past lover. Narretin, was a Junior Journeyman beastcrafter and it was him she was often escaping to spent time with when he visited. He taught her how to ride and her interest in beasts and beastcrafting came from him.

So at 13 turns old she rejected the roles of mother and wife her mother was urging her towards and applied to apprentice as a beastcrafter. For once her father took her side and backed her up, along with Varretin and she got in at the local hall. Reluctantly her mother had no choice but to het her go.

Maerin revelled in her chosen craft and enjoyed it immensely. But it wasn't easy going for her at all. One of the few young women in a very male dominated craft meant she had to work harder and work longer to gain some of the respect her male counterparts got. But work harder and work longer she did, determined to prove she was as good, if not better at her craft.

SLowly she progressed to the top of her class and she did earn the respect that was due her from her fellow apprentices and teachers. She did create a bit of a scandle by becoming the lover of one of her Journeyman teachers, but the pair of them ignored the whispers and disapproval.

At 18 she walked the tables to gain her juniour journeyman knots, something she was awful proud of. The next few turns she stayed where she was working out where she wanted to specalise. Her relationship with her teacher Bavay ended when he was posted elsewhere to fill a vacancy at Dawning Light Hold. Neither was particuarly bothered by the split as their relationship was drying up in the first place. SHe was more concerned with finding her speciality.

Maerin was also transferred to Coral Reef Hold to replace a JOurneyman who'd returned to the main Hall at Black Rock Hold to train for his Mastery. Maerin did find her speciality, breeding good quality stock. She did prefer working with and breeding throughbred runners but she liked working with other large stock too. It was here that she also meet the main love of her life Aeyn.

Aeyn a Journeyman Woodcrafter had been sent to the same hold for similair reasons as her. SHe liked his easy-going, laid back personality and the pair got along really well first as friend. But she found that she was growing attracted to him and the pair started a relationship.

Ironically and with much amusement she married him a turn later, pregnant with ther first child. Finding great humour in the fact that was accepting the role as mother and wife she'd rejected in her youth. But she's happy, loves her husband and her son who resulted from their match, she also gets to be both mother, wife and beastcrafter.

Recently she's packed up and followed her husband to the the new Weyrhold where she feels that she too will be needed. She wants to work on getting her senior knots now.

    Brief Description of Pet:

  • Swift is a light chestnut runner and is thoroughbred quality; sleek, well bred and well built. Personality wise she's as fiesty and warm hearted as her owner and trainer.

Lady is an average sized green flit in every way, and is a light jade coloured flit. Personality wise her name says it all, she likes to always be looking her best and is fairly haughty and bossy - much like a miniture gold. She was a gift from her half brother.

E-mail Stacey if you'd like, I'm sure she'd love to hear from you!
