Brief Description of Persona:
Osaiah is a man of medium height but with a
large build. A little fleshy around the neck, and instead of a washboard stomach
there's more of beer keg, but there's enough muscle underneath to man-handle
the toughest criminals in the mines. He keeps his black hair very short and
although sometimes there's dark stubble on his jaw, shaving is the norm. His
looks aren't stunning, more homely than handsome, but he isn't ugly and plenty
of women find his pale green eyes quite striking.
There's a number of scars across his body, even a couple on his face. Most were
received while capturing escapees or from Osaiah's one hobby: boxing.
Osaiah is a decent bloke. He does his job
without complaining (much!) and for the most part can be relied on to do the
right thing. He considers himself quite loyal and honest but there have been
occasions were money changed hands and Osaiah turned a blind eye.
Much to his wife's distaste Osaiah has a tendency to get aggressive when drunk,
although not abusive. He never hits his wife or children, rather, it's the
fights and arguments at the Lair that his wife detests. She only puts up with
him because he _is_ a reliable provider for her and his five kids, and although
she suspects that Osaiah has had a dalliance or two, Kouza knows good men are
hard to find and despite his faults Osaiah does fit into that category.
Brief History of Persona:
Black Rock Hold born and bred. Osaiah's father was a
guard, and so was his grandfather, and also his great-grandfather and so on as
far as the family can remember. Osaiah had no sisters, and together with his
brothers was indoctrinated into the hold guard as usual - at the age of 15. By
18 he was married to a local girl, Kouza. Somewhat of a coup for the young
Osaiah as Kouza was a second daughter of a minor holder.
Early on Osaiah was drafted into the night guard and because of his large
stature together with a proven ability to handle ruffians and a no-nonsense
attitude, he was sent to deal with criminals sent to the mines. Osaiah works
shifts - two sevendays at the mines, two sevendays of night patrols around the
hold.
Apart from becoming a father several times over, including to a set of twins,
and a number of near-escapes, Osaiah's life has been fairly average. His wife is
pregnant again and swearing once more that this will be her last.
Just recently, he was asked to take over an open guard’s position at Crystal Crescent Hold, so he, Kouza, and the kidlets are moving to the islands.
Brief Description of Pet:
Digger is getting on the older side. Still active but not
quite so energetic anymore. He's a big canine (imagine a cross between a boxer
and a bull mastiff!) and continues to accompany Osaiah on his patrols. Osaiah's
children are the only ones he tolerates, any other approaching brats, or adults
for that matter, will get a warning growl and teeth bared in a snarl. Digger was
named for his tendancy to dig a lot of holes, which he still does (looking quite
ridiculous).
Smokey and Charcoal are a pair of felines that adopted Osaiah's cottage as their
own. They were little more than kittens when they miaaoowed their way into
Osaiah's daughters' hearts. They are named for their colours: Smokey for her
smudges of pale and dark grey; and Charcoal for his dark fur which on first
glance looks black but closer inspection would reveal dark grey mottled shapes
among the black.
Inenvitable, Smokey has had a number of litters and Osaiah at times despairs of
finding them all decent homes. Most of his neighbours have already been saddled
with kittens.
