Brief Description of Persona:
Shalayla, always called Layla, is a tomboy to say the least. Her dark brown hair is cut short (just past her earlobes) and is rarely styled in any way. Her clothes are plain, tunics and trousers, never even any skirt. She has naturally dark skin and a long, lean build. She is 5'7" and 130 lbs. She has long skinny feet, and long fingered hands that are usually callused from working with lines and nets. Her face is long and oval, with high cheekbones and a ready smile. Her hazel eyes are long-sighted and intelligent, and her nose is long and thin like the rest of her.
Layla is her father's son, except that she's his daughter. She was raised as a son since her father had no other, and that's how she acts. Most every day Layla is awake at sunrise, and ready to do anything, she is definitely a morning person. She is usually quite nice to people, but she can have a bit of a temper. In the past, she has had several long term lovers, but never anyone that she spends any large amount of time with. She tends to think more of her work than of herself or of others. She is a very self confidant person, and if she has a problem with someone or something, she will tell them about it and practically force them to solve her problem, though she will do the same for others.. She has always had a deep respect for dragons and their riders, and will not allow anyone aboard with her who does not.
Brief History of Persona:
Layla was born at Southern Hold, as a fisherman's only daughter, and has known the sea her whole life. When she was three turns old, her father began taking her out on the boat with him when he went fishing; she instantly fell in love with the sea. When her mother felt it was her time to learn how to sew and mend clothes, she was already splicing lines on her father's boat and wanted nothing of "girly duties". She grew up on her father's boat, being his deckhand and helper whenever she was needed. When she was old enough, she officially became an apprentice and worked her way quickly to being a journeywoman doing what she knew and loved. When she was twenty five, her father died and because of their close relationship, Layla was devastated. She spent several years trying to keep working at the craft, then decided that it was too hard to be close to home where her memories of her father still lived. She transferred to Crystal Crescent Cove as soon as she heard of the opportunity.
Brief Description of Pet:
Kalan is a black canine of a medium size that has thin white stripes through his fur. He is a nice pet, and very loyal to Layla though she has only had him for three years. He was a gift to her from her father, only a year before his death, he means a lot to her, and she cares greatly for him.
