Name: Brenynd
Age: 48
Residence: DLMH

Craft: Healer - Herbalist

Rank:Senior Journeyman

Brief Description of Persona:

  • Brenynd is of average height and weight. Standing about six feet tall, he seems very unoticable as he slouches slightly from all his times spent over books, pestle and mortar, and crucibles. His hair is a nondescript light brown graying early at the temples. He wears thin wire-rimmed spectacles from which behind shrewd blue eyes. His voice is soft, low, almost mesmeriizing at times. Although his work coat is usually stained and creased, Brenynd's attire beneath is neat and clean. His hands are manicured following the rest of his personal fastidiousness.

  • Unimposing, Brenynd the herbalist blends into a crowd. He doesn't stand out in either looks or personality. Most people who do interact with the quiet man find him polite, direct, and knowledgable. In his private quarters, Brenynd is a whirlwind. Constantly writing formulae, methods, and recipes, he shows a mind that is never at rest.

When forced to socially interact more than usual, Brenynd is direct and to the point. Although he has a somewhat low tolerance for uneducated people, he will not be condescending. Instead he will explain things to the person he is talking to in the simplest terms possible and excuse himself from their company for one reason or another.

    Brief History of Persona:

  • Brenynd was born on the NOrthern Continent to a Healer Mother and a Trader Father. The family was constantly on the move, but were fairly well off due to the nature of the family trades. While trading with the smaller holds and cotholds that didn't have a healer, Brenynd's mother was always in demand. As a young child, Brenynd would stay by his mother's side while she tended the people and his father was off doing the trading. He quickly proved to be an intelligent child with a quick aptitude for retaining knowledge.

By the time he was 12, Brenynd was sent off to Healer Hhall to increase his already vast knowledge of herbalry. At Healer Hall the apprentice healer learned about the darker sides of the herbs he loved. As he got older and walked the tables to junior journeyman status, Brenynd fell in love with a fellow healer. Sadly for the young man, she had eyes only for a senior journeyman. AS the time passed, the rejection ate away at Brenynd's heart and mind. After a final attempt at winning the woman's heart, Brenynd was publicly humiliated by both the woman and her lover. Several days later, both young healers came down with a mysterious illness. A week after that, they were dead.

Fearing some unknown disease, Healer Hall was quarantined for a month. With noone else dying, it was decided that some sort of foul play might be considered. No public claim was made against Brenynd, but people still whispered. The Hallmaster decided it was best for Brenynd to start Journeying even though the jouneyman pleaded against it as he had grown to love the stability of staying in once place. But off he went as he couldn't go against the request of his Hallmaster.

Through the unspoken network of theives, assassins and mercenaries, Brenynd's talents with poisons became well known with the darker side of Pern's population. Finding he was making more money by providing the means of silent deaths, Brenynd turned his brilliant mind to finding deadlier, quicker, less traceable types of poisons. But notoriety will leak to the surface. Brenynd escaped a deathsentence in the Mines of High Reaches by having an alibi for the time of the one victim's death. That and the fact that the killer was caught.

Fearing he would soon be caught, Brenynd fled South quietly. The remote Healer Hall of Black Rock Hold provided a safe haven for the herbalist. Deciding that the last close call was too close, Brenynd decided there should be no middleman in his business. While journeying throught the south, the man discovered he could be as deadly an assassin as those who came to him seeking his potions and poisons. Finally making his way to Dawning Light Minor Hold, Brenynd found a home he could feel safe. In the den of darkness that Dawnign Light was, Brenynd soon became a respected and highly feared member of the society. Many deaths that have seemed natural have been caused by the new found formulas that Brenynd has created with the new plants in his new home.
