Lynnayn would be an attractive woman if her constant appearance of lack of sleep and lack of personal care didn't make her look so hard and wornout. Her hair is a lackluster yellowish cream color, dry and brittle, and always looking in the need of a good brushing. Large, pale blue eyes are rimed with redness and always puffy. Her skin is blotchy and dull as if the woman is in poor health. She stands tall at 5' 9" with a slender figure. What should be a stunning blonde beauty, is a woman who appears to have lead a hard life and aged too early for her actual years.
Poor Lynnayn is running from her fears. Her biggest fear is of her husband finding her on the Southern Continent. She finds that the quieter she stays, the less people are likely to single her out for anything. Her voice is low and rough but sounds constantly restrained. Unfortunately, her personality stays clouded with her alcohol. She functions within the minimal requirements of her job as a vintner. She is able to help with the physical tasks required of her proffession, but if required to do something more cerebral, Lynnayn comes close to having a break down. But instead of crying, screaming, lashing out, she will withdraw into herself. She can find solace only in her wine and spirits.
Brief History of Persona:
Born to a young holdless couple, Lynnayn was brought into the world of travelling from hold to hold to find work. If there was no work, the family lived in caves and fed off the land. To Lynnayn it was a very normal and happy life. When a permanant job was landed by her father as a vinyard worker, Lynnayn suddenly found her life turned upside down. What she had thought was a normal life, was actually a very detested way of life on Pern.
Terrified of ever ending up holdless again, Lynnayn begged her parents to let her apprentice at the Vintner Hall. Against their personal feelings, they let their daughter go to the Hall. Once reaching her Senior Apprentice knots it was very apparent that Lynnayn had started to resent her parents' lowly status. She moved into the Hall barracks and cut all ties with her mother and father.
Gaining her Journey status as nineteen, Lynnayn was off across the Southern Continent to as far away from her parents as possible. From there she went to the Northern COntinent where she met her husband. Lynnayn's husband was a Farmcrafter, rough, gruff, very much a man of the earth. He didn't have any aspirations of moving higher. He was happy with his station as a journeyman and as a field technician. He had no need or liking for the finer things Lynnayn had acquired a taste for.
Once again, Lynnayn found herself resenting the person she had once loved. Fights ensued, both turned to drink, verbal fights turned to physical fights. One night, Lynnayn's husband hit her so hard she was knocked to the ground unconscious. When she awoke, her husband was standing above her with a knife. In an instinctive action, Lynnayn kicked his legs out from under him. Once on the ground, the man was attacked by a wildcat wielding the knife he'd just been brandishing.
Lynnayn fled in the dark leaving behind her husband with only eye and three fingers on each hand. Not knowing where to go for the time being, Lynnayn went back to being holdless. It came back quickly and she survived. She sold her body to keep herself in wine and to make passage back to the Southern Continent. Once standing on the shores of Veridian Orchards, Lynnayn was now a confirmed alcoholic. But she had learned how to hide it well over the two Turns she had been Holdless. Slowly she made her way back to Coral Reef Hold and the Vintner Hall. Her parents had gone onto another grape growing hold so she was glad to know she wouldn't have to face them. Now all she had to do was keep her drinking hidden from the people at Vintner Hall.
