Name: B'das
Rank: Brownrider
Age: 18

Dragon Name: Betseth
Dragon Color: Brown
Dragon Age: 2

Craft: Seacrafter
Craft Rank: Sr. Apprentice

Brief Description of Persona:

  • Standing at a respectable, if average height, B'das is 17, 6' 3", and gangly at 150#. He has bright red hair and blue-green eyes. His ears are, to phrase it kindly, prominent, and he seems to take strange pleasure in calling attention to them because he keeps his hair shorn as close to the skull as possible along the sides of his head, leaving only a strip of orange-red growing from his forehead to the back of his neck. He was Fishercraft born but found on Search when he was 16....much to the relief of the entire hold (the Searchrider was puzzled at the celebration as he flew the youngster to the Weyr, but thought nothing of it at the time). There is not a whit of malice in B'das, but he is rather, um, spirited. Some call him michevious, some call him undisciplined, some call him words less kind. For it seems he lives to play pranks. Nothing which would endanger anyone...no, never. But if it would inconvenience, frighten, or embarass someone...yes, always! His greatest strength is his ability to shirk chores, his greatest weakness is how shy he is around girls (unless he's playing a prank, that is).
  • B'das is the consumate extrovert, always finding ways to be the center of attention yet assuming a "who, me?" demeanor when attention is focused on him. In many ways a loner, he is certainly not a leader. He actually respects those in position of authority, but that's hard to prove in the face of his consistent challenges. He is a dedicated hard worker when he has to be, but would rather find ways to avoid work and will put more effort into shirking than simply getting the job done. He is ready to take on anyone or anything, except girls. Growing up he never went thru a phase of disliking girls....he always liked them. But they always somehow frightened him. Shy to the point of phobic, B'das retreats into his shell of troublemaker when around females his age.

    Brief History of Persona:
  • Fishercraft born, Berradas grew up learning how to catch, clean, and salt fish. He was taught how to cast, haul, empty, and repair nets. He was learning the details of seamanship when, at 16, a dragonrider visited the Hold and said he should become a Candidate. Berradas had never given thought to being a rider but was interested in anything which would get him out of work. Then, after standing on the sands of the Hatching Ground and Impressing brown Betseth, his name forever changed to B'das just as his being was forever linked to the little dragonette, he learned what work really was. Care of his dragon physically exhausted him in the early days, but as Betseth grew so did the opportunities to return to, and indulge in, B'das' tendancy to play tricks, cause disruption. But now he had an assistant, his lifemate.....

    Description of Dragon:

  • Betseth is small for a brown and rather dark, with a longish tail and overlarge wings. If anything he is more, um, spirited, than B'das. Betseth not only enjoys participating with B'das when it comes to playing jokes on others, he sometimes finds ways to play jokes on B'das. Unlike most dragons, which simply tolerate firelizards, Betseth sees them as potential helpers with jokes. They may not be as intelligent as dragons, but Betseth has learned that if he concentrates an action thought to a flit, the flit may indeed take the action, and people are left dumbfounded as to why the flit did that. Proof that the dragon finds its suitable lifemate, Betseth is, if anything, more of a, um, problem than B'das. The Weyrlingmaster would gladly give all the marks on Pern to see these two transferred to another Weyr. Or to the Dawn Sisters. Or to the Red Star. Anywhere!
