Maekel is fairly short standing at 5'5 and he's slender, but he has wiry muscles and is fit from the exercise he does. His hair is red-gold and wavy, worn fairly long, just brushing his shoulder blades when it's loose from a tie. It is his one true vanity. His eyes are a odd coloured - he has one blue eye and one hazel. His skin is pale and prone to freckles. He has quite a few of them across his arms and face. He burns and peels in the sun. His facial features are attractive in a cute way rather then handsome. He has a slender nose, angular jaw, high cheek bones and quite large, wide spaced eyes and full lips. With a dimple in his right cheek and a boyish grin. He's a little unusual for a crafter as he's openly into men and doesn't try to hide it. He's also very good at both artistic and musical talents. HIs voice is an average tenor, but he can play just about any instrument he's asked to. He's also a pretty good dancer too. He tends to light bright, bold and quite elegant clothing but it always has a practical side to it.
Maekel is a lively, good-natured, friendly sort of person. Self-assured and a bit on the arrogant side he's bold, frank and honest. His wide streak of the outrageous and sharp tongue also tend to make him a person one either likes or loathes. But he does his best at all times and he is truely dedicated to being a harper. He likes to teach, educate and pass on what he knows. He is surprisingly patient and tolerant in these areas, proud with what he knows and generous in the sharing of it. He also likes to entertain people. Underneath it all he's really quite a shrewd, intelligent person. He will also take a secret to his grave. If he has a downside it is that he doesn't tend to trust people very well and while he knows alot of people, is friendly etc he has few close friends and even fewer actual lovers. He takes a while to warm up to them. He also has quite a bad temper when he's provoked. He also hates and is allergic to felines.
Brief Description of History:
Maekel, known as Kel to his friends and family, was the youngest out of five, with two brothers and two sisters, born to a Journeyman Weaver-Tailor and his wife at Black Rock Hold. Maekel had a fairly ordinary, uneventful childhood. The youngest of five with busy parents meant that he was often looked over and babysat by his eldest sister. From an early age Maekel was taken with the harpers. From the day he started his classes he was hooked. So at 13 turns old he apprenticed to the Harper Hall at SRH with eager anticipation. Maekel grew in skill and interest with his craft and progressed quickly. HE worked hard at all his lessons and worked his way to the top of his classes. The main tragedy in his life came when his mother died in childbirth in his 16th turn, taking his younger brother or sister with her. The loss left a big hole in the family but Maekel carried on, as did the rest of his family. Maekel was delighted when his next oldest sister, who he was particuarly close to, was Searched on her 19th birthing day and successfully Impressed a green at Coral Reef Weyr. He also recieved a 16th birthing day gift from his father of a flit egg. It hatched to give him Sala. At 18 Maekel gained his junior journeyman knots and found to his delight that he was being posted to Coral Reef Weyr. It meant he got to be near his favourite sister and best friend. It also meant he'd get a taste of weyr life. Most of all he just looked forward to using his talents and skills where they were most needed.
Pet Description:
Sala is an average sized green flit in every way. Her colouring is a solid glossy jade with lighter blue and copper highlights. She has a small scar on her chest from an accident when she hatched. In terms of personality Sala is very sweet natured and quite lazy. But she is fussy about her food and quite possessive of her
