Brief Description of Persona:
Va'ren is a tall and lanky young man with
shoulder length brown hair, keen dark forest green eyes, who stands at 6'0"
even and weighs a lanky 160 lbs. He is lightly tanned and has the
appearance of being, well, lanky. He looks as though he hasn't grown fully
into his body yet.
Va'ren is a sweet and loving young man,
his heart being large enough to love all of Pern and the people in it. Its
why he was so well suited to being a Mindhealer and his previous craft
before he became a dragonrider reflects that. He is great at helping those
who were injured during Threadfall get over their shock of the ordeal and
why he was attracted to the Weyrs in the first place. However, despite his
kind nature, Va'ren's biggest hurdle is his own lack of confidence. He's
always apologizing and afraid he has done something wrong and often his
parting phrase will be, "I'm sorry," often for no visible or known reason.
Part of it is his childhood, but part of it is also his kind nature. He
doesn't want to hurt anyone, physically or emotionally.
Brief History of Persona:
Vanren was born at a Ista minor holding through a
scandelous affair between the wife of the holder of the minor hold and a
holdless man who lured Vanren's mother into a relationship and Vanren as the
result. His father, as a result, was furious with his wife and her new son.
Both were nearly turned out from the minor hold when sickness struck and
Vanren's mother died just two months after his birth. His father, was left
with a crying two month old child not of his own. Thankfully, he kept
Vanren and raised him, but never treated him as a father would a son. His
father re-married, and made a point keep the boy away from his new wife and
his full blooded children.
Desperate at age eleven, Vanren ran away to to a healer's crafthold and
discovered his true gift. He could connect with people on the emotional
level that he and his father never could. The hallmaster saw this and
immediatly began trainig Vanren to become a Mindhealer.
Vanren progressed well at Mindhealing and just as he was about to walk the
tables at 18 turns to gain his journeyman's knots, a blue dragon appeared
over the crafthold and Vanren found himself Searched for the clutch of eggs
that lay on the Ista sands.
He was not disappointed when the eggs hatched and a rather large and
ungainly blue shattered his egg and choose Vanren to become, Va'ren, rider
of blue Shineth.
However after four turns of dragonriding, Va'ren has decided its time for
some changes and has headed South to Dawning Light Weyr where he hopes to
find new challenges for himself and Shineth.
Brief Description of Dragon:
Shineth is a large blue dragon, almost as big
as a small brown, but not quite. He is a lovely sapphire shade of blue with
a lighter patch of sky blue under his neck, wings, and belly. Personality
wise, he is a more confident version of his rider. He loves to socialize
and is often nudging his rider into social situations, if nothing more than
to try and get the attention of green riders and their dragons. He's a
shameless flirt and on more than one occasion, has left his rider blushing
at his antics. But he is kind, sweet, and a very loving dragon who will
happily be around anyone who will have their company.
